Banda: I want Malawians to say, we had oil, but we benefited

Malawi's president and the award-winning gender activist Joyce Banda wants to steer her country through the current economic crisis, and ensure that Malawians benefit from the country's oil reserves. Time will show if she is able to follow up with appropriate action.

"I want Malawians, in 20 years, to look back, when we have depleted our resources, and say we had oil but we benefited. Our country became a better place for us to live in," Banda says in an interview with The Guardian. "*Read the whole interview here*"
