How do multinational companies avoid tax? You can learn more about the industry of tax avoidance at Kvarteret in Bergen Wednesday 11th of February. PWYP Norway is hosting the seminar together with SAIH Bergen.

Revenues from tax that could have been used to fund development and human rights in developing countries in the South, today disappears away from the public. Resources that should have financed common goods such as education and health services can easily be drained from the country. Countries in the North are not spared against the fact that multinational companies organize themselves in such a way that they do not pay taxes. The consequence’s of this are however much larger in developing countries. The problem today is that to help companies to avoid tax has become an industry: The industry of Tax Avoidance.

The seminar 11th of February will take a closer look at the Industry of Tax Avoidance discussing these questions:

  • How and where does the Industry of Tax Avoidance operate?
  • What do we know about the scope of the Industry of Tax Avoidance?
  • What consequences will this have for countries in the South and in the North?
  • Is it possible to prevent tax leakages?
