Norwegian People's Aid operates at several reception centers, as well as work that promote integration and tolerance. 1. What does Norwegian People´s Aid work with?
Norwegian People's Aid works nationally and internationally to improve the living conditions of vulnerable groups and to contribute to a more fair society. We support people so that they can defend and promote their interests.
2. Why did Norwegian People´s Aid choose to become a member organization of PWYP Norway?
Norwegian People´s Aid is working in contexts where oil and gas resources are a very relevant topic. The alliance between oil companies and governments in these relationships is not easy to influence. We saw early on that it was necessary to enter into professional networks that had an opportunity to act as a corrective mechanism to a thoroughly professional basis. One condition was that professional networks helped to build local skills and capacities so that the knowledge was rooted locally. To become a member organization of Publish What You Pay Norway was therefore a very reasonable choice.
3. What is the added value of PWYP Norway for the Norwegian civil society?
As a professional network PWYP Norway is important for Norway. Civil society organizations have not individually the necessary expertise and knowledge to be able to have the active dialogue that is needed regard to structures such as Oil for Development, Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) and oil companies. PWYP Norway has what is needed.
